Ken Calvert is projecting, again. He’s publicly attacked Young Kim a dozen times* over campaign contributions she donated upon learning of an FBI investigation. But as per the usual, there are some skeletons in Calvert’s closet that he fails to mention.
In 2015, two of Calvert’s own donors were charged in a sprawling international $1.3 million bribery and money-laundering scheme involving Chinese business interests and the president of the United Nations General Assembly – yes, really. And unlike Kim, Calvert did not announce that those contributions would be donated to charity until after they had been criminally charged.
So, either Calvert is feigning his outrage, is a hypocrite, or he’s been caught up in so much corruption during his career in congress that he can’t keep it all straight. Sadly, after 34 years as part of the DC swamp, it’s likely all of the above.
