Corrupt Ken Calvert: An old dog with the same dirty tricks

September 29, 2026

Ken Calvert has faced questions about steering taxpayer dollars toward projects near his real estate for decades.

In 2006, scrutiny over earmarks near Calvert’s real-estate investments led the FBI to examine his financial records.

In 2024, the Los Angeles Times found that more than $16 million in taxpayer money was steered to transportation projects within miles of Calvert-owned properties, including six properties within two miles of the Magnolia Avenue project.

Calvert’s corrupt conduct led to an ethics complaint.

But despite all of that, Calvert still can’t help himself.

Earlier this year, Calvert steered another $4 million to Magnolia Avenue and another $5 million to the I-15 Southern Extension, while certifying that he had “no financial interest” in either project despite the close proximity to his properties.

So here we are again.

2006. 2024. 2026.

Same questions about Calvert’s corruption, taxpayer money and his real estate.

After 34 years in Washington, why does this keep happening?
